I appreciate the presentation of information. Any chance that you could discuss, on a staggered schedule since it could take a lot of effort, the other aspects of carb. circuits. I am especially interested in a simple definition of 'transistion' and 'intermediate' performance. I imagine that transition is what happens when you turn the handle from a standing start. I can't guess at what is the intermediate stage (releasing the accelerator)?.

Being more into electronic, I definitely can relate this to dealing with characteristics of an audio system. Ultimately the system has to be tweeked to it's operating environment. In the case of a carberator, that means temperature, humidity, alltitude, air pressure,... I still stand by my thought that carb. adjustment is more art than it is science. Well maybe in a lab or professional race situation it is science, but that is not the real world.

"Some advice in this forum belies a fundamental misunderstanding of carburation"

My assumption is that many of the other characteristics of a carb. are not as easily altered as the jetting and spacer. So people tweek what they can. If you present an adjustment screw, there is a natural tendency to turn it to see what it does. This forum could probably have an interesting discussion on whether engineers should remove all the 'fun' from motorcycles like they did from cars(EFI, EMC modules,...). Obviously may people on this forum like the relative simplicity of the Savage and many like to tinker.

Personally I like the ease of maintainability of modern cars. The expense is another issue if those $400 chips fail.

Meanwhile, my Savage is FUN to ride!!

Thanks again for the seminar.
